Curriculum & Pre-k Curriculum

CURRICULUM:
St. Theresa’s Girls’ High School’s Paragon Curriculum combines the rigor of classical education with the relevance required by contemporary society. By exploring historical figures and hypothetical heroes, we maximize a student’s capacity for learning while building character, ethics and selfesteem.
PRE-K CURRICULUM:
Pre-K at St. Theresa’s Girls’ High School’s of Hyderabad (34 year olds) The prek curriculum and classrooms are designed to provide students with a rich environment that is both stimulating and nurturing.
The prek students learn best by doing: what they know depends largely on the experiences they have. The environment encourages social development and academic skills both by supporting autonomy and by teaching selfcontrol. Active interaction with people and materials provides young students with new experiences and new ideas.
Students are encouraged to use many different ways to master skills and find solutions to problems. As the year proceeds and the students get to know each other, they learn to get along effectively, to negotiate the use of shared space and materials, to care for one another, and to ask each other thoughtprovoking questions. These components – learning by exploration and interaction with materials and the social learning which comes from being a member of a busy engaged classroom community – are the foundation for all future school learning.
In the prek program, we emphasize learning through sensory exploration and discovery in independent, small group, and whole group situations. Well provisioned classrooms, small class sizes, and flexible scheduling combine to provide plenty of time, space, and choice for individual areas of readiness, particularly in reading, writing, math, and socialization. In addition, a wide range of experiences are offered to further develop each student’s fine and large motor skills. Students enter the classroom with individual strengths and approaches to learning. They gain an understanding of classroom routines and expectations.
The preK program is designed to help students begin to learn how to organize their time in purposeful and meaningful ways, to enrich their understanding, skills, and knowledge, and to further their social development. Activities are well planned and openended. Imagination and creativity are important in everything students do. We believe a student’s play is also a student’s work!
